The book opens with a Kentucky farmer named Arthur Shelby facing the loss of his farm because of debts. Even though he and his wife Emily Shelby believe that they have a benevolent relationship with their slaves, Shelby decides to raise the needed funds by selling two of themUncle Tom, a middle-aged man with a wife and children, and Harry, the son of Emily Shelby's maid Elizato a slave trader. Emily Shelby is averse to this idea because she had promised her maid that her child would never be sold; Emily's son, George Shelby, hates to see Tom go because he sees the man as his friend and mentor. When Eliza overhears Mr. and Mrs. Shelby discussing plans to sell Tom and Harry, Eliza determines to run away with her son. The novel states that Eliza made this decision because she fears losing her only surviving child (she had already miscarried two children). Eliza departs that night, leaving a note of apology to her mistress. Uncle Tom's Cabin; or, Life Among the Lowly, is an anti-slavery novel by American author Harriet Beecher Stowe. Published in 1852, the novel "helped lay the groundwork for the Civil War", according to Will Kaufman. Stowe, a Connecticut-born teacher at the Hartford Female Seminary and an active abolitionist, featured the character of Uncle Tom, a long-suffering black slave around whom the stories of other characters revolve. The sentimental novel depicts the reality of slavery while also asserting that Christian love can overcome something as destructive as enslavement of fellow human beings Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe - Free Ebook Free kindle book and epub digitized and proofread by Project Gutenberg Uncle Tom's Cabin - Simple English Wikipedia the free Uncle Tom's Cabin; or Life Among the Lowly is an anti-slavery novel by Harriet Beecher Stowe It was published in 1852 It greatly influenced many people's thoughts Warrant - Uncle Tom's Cabin - YouTube Warrant's official music video for 'Uncle Tom's Cabin' Click to listen to Warrant on Spotify: smarturlit/WarrSpotify?IQid=WUTC As featured on Best Uncle Tom's Cabin - Harriet Beecher Stowe House Harriet Beecher Stowe's best known novel Uncle Tom's Cabin (1852) changed forever how Americans viewed slavery the system that treated people as property Uncle Tom's Cabin (TV Movie 1987) - IMDb Directed by Stan Lathan With Avery Brooks Kate Burton Bruce Dern Paula Kelly The life of an aging black slave Tom and the people he interacts with Uncle Tom's Cabin - Wikipedia Uncle Tom's Cabin; or Life Among the Lowly is an anti-slavery novel by American author Harriet Beecher Stowe Published in 1852 the novel "helped lay the Uncle Tom's Cabin & American Culture University of Virginia multimedia archive Uncle Tom's Cabin (Wordsworth Classics): Harriet Beecher Uncle Toms Cabin the 1852 novel by Harriet Beecher Stowe is a well-written book with a lot of societal impact tied to it Uncle Toms Cabin is a fictional tale Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe Read it now Read Uncle Tom's Cabin by author Harriet Beecher Stowe FREE online (Table of Contents) This book and many more are available SparkNotes: Uncle Toms Cabin From a general summary to chapter summaries to explanations of famous quotes the SparkNotes Uncle Toms Cabin Study Guide has everything you need to ace quizzes
